November happenings!

Hi all!
Today is such a nice day for me. All my children are napping at the same time!!! This hardly ever happens. And what am I doing? Playing on the computer instead of sleeping myself. Crazy! Anyway, this month has been great. Mom came for a visit over the weekend and it was so wonderful to see her. We are gearing up for a wonderful Thanksgiving and we have almost all of our presents purchased for Christmas this year. What a wonderful life!

Hello again!

It has been so extremely long since we added another message on our site. We just got back a couple weeks ago from an extremely fun trip to Disneyland. The children were so well behaved and had so much fun the whole time. We spent one week at Disneyland and another week on the beach at Santa Barbara. I will add some of those cute pics on our site. Julie is now officially working part time and is loving being a nurse in the labor and delivery unit. Don is still working hard and working on his applications for medical school again. The boys are both starting preschool again this year and Shawn is getting so ready for Kindergarten as each month passes. He can write his name and he is starting to read small words by himself and write his own words. Nathan is just starting preschool and is learning how to write his name right now. This week we got Nathan on a big boy bike with training wheels. He did so well with riding his bike and was so proud of himself! Well, we are all keeping very busy trying to keep up with the busy life style we have created for ourselves. It is fun though everyday!

Chubby Bunny and Kitty

We just came back from a fun weekend at some cabins in Bear, Idaho that belong to a friend of ours! We had fun hiking and hanging out with our friends. The children all had lots of fun with this trip. They played a lot with the small mounds of snow still left over from the winter. Our friends Monte & Misty (with their daughter Paige) and Jacob & Emily (with their two boys) came with us. On Saturday we played a fun game called Smear the Queer (I know, horrible name) in the deep mud pits around the camp site. Don opted out of the game because of his back. I have never played this game and it was so fun. We would throw the football to someone and whoever had the ball was to be chased and tackled by the others. I have never gotten so muddy in my entire life. We were covered head to toe. Every article of clothing was soaked. I definately would play this again! That night we also played a game of Chubby Bunny. Everyone would take turns and see how many marshmallows they could fit in their mouth and still be able to say "Chubby Bunny". I was reigning champion with 8 marshmallows. Don came a close second with 7 marshmallows. Nathan - who is always our boy who will store food in his cheeks with every meal like a chipmunk - managed to fit 2-3 large marshmallows at one time in his little mouth!
Nathan has a small stuffed animal kitty that he got years ago from Grandma Barzee. He accidentally left it at the cabins. Our friends brought it back and Nathan did not have his kitty all day Monday. He was so sweet about it. He talked about missing Kitty all day long and one point in the day he was distraught because Kitty was crying and he couldn't hold her. He was only consoled when he was told we could call Jen and make sure she was holding Kitty and helping her feel better. When I told my Mom about this she said that when I was a little girl they had to go out of their way to drive to a store in Twin Falls where I left my little doll. The things we parents do for our little children!
Shawn had fun in preschool this week. He learned how to make bread. He learned how to grind wheat and how to knead the bread. He thought the best part was when they got to eat their bread at the end. He is growing up to be such a sweet and smart boy. We are so very proud of him. He is a very helpful big brother. One day he put the pacifier in Becca's mouth and bounced her gently in her bouncer chair and helped her go to sleep. He was so proud of himself for being able to put his baby sister to sleep. I was very grateful!

What a life!

Life is going just great for us! Shawn & Nathan are so in love with little Rebecca. She is starting to smile and coo at us now and it is so fun. She is still small enough to carry around all the time and she just looks adorable in her little dresses. We are so blessed with our three little children! Shawn is almost done with his first year of preschool and he is starting to read small words by sounding them out very slowly. He can write his name and he is also starting to tell jokes. Although, the only person who really gets them is him. For instance last night he was cracking up telling Uncle Eric this joke:
"How does a monster eat his peas?"
"He throws them on the floor!"
(Insert a belly busting laugh from Shawn here)
Nathan is a little spitfire. He keeps all of us on our toes. He likes to pretend he is a lion, or a kitty. And the only way to get him to do anything is by pretending you are also a lion or a kitty and ask him to do something. He goes by "NaNa Lion" a lot these days! He is such a sweetheart.
When the boys went out to the store with Daddy the other day Shawn asked Daddy if he had any flowers. Daddy was going to buy some geraniums for the garden and had them in the cart. When Shawn found that they did indeed have flowers he said "Good, because Mommy will be mad if we come back and don't have any flowers." - Where do they come up with this stuff? Funny boys.
Life is good.

A New Addition

We have exciting news to share! Rebecca joined our family on February 24th. Weighing in at 8 pounds 6 ounces and 21 inches long you wouldn't think that she was as early as she is. She has her father wrapped around her perfect little pinky. We have had so much fun with her already! We must add pictures!

Our Spanglish

Well, Don is doing a fine job teaching Shawn some new Spanish words. I think Shawn must think Daddy makes these things up. Last week, we were driving in the car and Shawn was talking about his gorilla, only he doesn't say "gorilla" he says "bagrilla". When I tried to correct him, Shawn said: "NO Mommy, that's how you say it in Spanish!" - Well you can't beat that! :)

Living with a Star Trooper and back pain

Well, Don's back is healing. He is off his pain medicine and now he is wearing a back brace that makes him look like one of the star troopers off Star Wars. It's big, it's bulky, and he hopes to be out of it by the time he goes to his next doctor's appointment next week. While Don was healing I thought it would be a good idea to shovel some snow in the front yard. (Apparently I didn't remember that I was 9 months pregnant. Hmmmm.) Well I didn't get very far when I doubled over in intense pain. One trip the the hospital later that evening showed I had a very bad bladder infection causing contractions and back pain. I was given some antibiotics and after a second trip to the hospital yesterday to stop more contractions I was reassured that everything looks fine. I'm not in actual labor - DANG IT! :) Oh well, my back is feeling a lot better this afternoon and I am reassured that I will get better soon.

Our latest news

Don broke his back while sledding the other day. He is laid out flat taking pain medications now. Our little boys are not quite sure what has happened to Dad but they are starting to understand!

To just begin

I chose the name for this site because I have always joked with my husband that life has never been boring since I have met him. We have been so busy since we started and it only looks to continue. We have our two little beautiful boys and a little girl on the way. Don is just starting applications for med school and we hope to go that route! Life is never boring!
