So excited to play in the snow this year. I am so grateful for all this wonderful white Christmas feeling! We have recovered from a bumpy summer and have settled into the Fall quite nicely! Shawn is doing so great in Kindergarten. Can I brag for a second? His teacher says he is in the top of the reading group! I am so proud of him. Nathan is doing so much better at preschool this year. I believe he will be totally ready for Kindergarten next year. This week we visited Shawn's school with the grandparents and Nathan is so excited to go to school next year! Our little Becca is not so little anymore. At 18 months old she has decided that I can no longer hold her like a baby. She says "no" and "stop" VERY clearly! And she still loves shoes. If any of her shoes are out she will try them on over and over again all day! She can go pee in the potty and we are on our way to never having diapers again! WOOHOO! Don is loving his job as manager of the country club (as much as one can love it!). I am still working part time as a labor and delivery nurse at the hospital. It is challenging work and I always feel like I have things I need to keep learning. I am so blessed with such a patient and wonderful husband and some great children!Hardin'shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17626076589622563854noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1852675179366640735.post-18186475841296637392009-10-29T14:14:00.002-07:002009-10-29T14:17:40.279-07:00Carving pumpkins!<table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" border="0" bgcolor="#ffffff"><tr><td><a href="http://smilebox.com/play/4d5449774f5455774d7a513d0d0a&blogview=true&campaign=blog_playback_link" target="_blank"><img width="386" height="303" alt="Click to play this Smilebox slideshow: " src="http://smilebox.com/snap/4d5449774f5455774d7a513d0d0a.jpg" style="border: medium none ;"/></a></td></tr><tr><td><a href="http://www.smilebox.com/?partner=google&campaign=blog_snapshot" target="_blank"><img width="386" height="46" alt="Create your own slideshow - Powered by Smilebox" src="http://www.smilebox.com/globalImages/blogInstructions/blogLogoSmileboxSmall.gif" style="border: medium none ;"/></a></td></tr><tr><td align="center"><a href="http://www.smilebox.com/slideshows" target="_blank">Make a Smilebox slideshow</a></td></tr></table>Hardin'shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17626076589622563854noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1852675179366640735.post-61152071400605190332009-10-29T14:14:00.001-07:002009-10-29T14:14:41.133-07:00Adult Halloween party<table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" border="0" bgcolor="#ffffff"><tr><td><a href="http://smilebox.com/play/4d5449774f5451354e6a4d3d0d0a&blogview=true&campaign=blog_playback_link" target="_blank"><img width="386" height="303" alt="Click to play this Smilebox scrapbook: Adult Halloween party 2009" src="http://smilebox.com/snap/4d5449774f5451354e6a4d3d0d0a.jpg" style="border: medium none ;"/></a></td></tr><tr><td><a href="http://www.smilebox.com/?partner=google&campaign=blog_snapshot" target="_blank"><img width="386" height="46" alt="Create your own scrapbook - Powered by Smilebox" src="http://www.smilebox.com/globalImages/blogInstructions/blogLogoSmileboxSmall.gif" style="border: medium none ;"/></a></td></tr><tr><td align="center"><a href="http://www.smilebox.com/scrapbooks" target="_blank">Make a Smilebox scrapbook</a></td></tr></table>Hardin'shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17626076589622563854noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1852675179366640735.post-15518602577640690542009-09-08T18:32:00.000-07:002009-09-08T18:33:07.383-07:00Shawn's first week of Kindergarten<table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" border="0" bgcolor="#ffffff"><tr><td><a href="http://smilebox.com/play/4d5445794e546b334e44513d0d0a&blogview=true&campaign=blog_playback_link" target="_blank"><img width="386" height="303" alt="Click to play this Smilebox slideshow: Shawn's Kindergarten first week" src="http://smilebox.com/snap/4d5445794e546b334e44513d0d0a.jpg" style="border: medium none ;"/></a></td></tr><tr><td><a href="http://www.smilebox.com/?partner=google&campaign=blog_snapshot" target="_blank"><img width="386" height="46" alt="Create your own slideshow - Powered by Smilebox" src="http://www.smilebox.com/globalImages/blogInstructions/blogLogoSmileboxSmall.gif" style="border: medium none ;"/></a></td></tr><tr><td align="center"><a href="http://www.smilebox.com/slideshows" target="_blank">Make a Smilebox slideshow</a></td></tr></table>Hardin'shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17626076589622563854noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1852675179366640735.post-38643628702240925402009-07-17T14:01:00.000-07:002009-07-17T14:02:03.457-07:00Camping trip June 2009<table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" border="0" bgcolor="#ffffff"><tr><td><a href="http://smilebox.com/play/4d5441304d6a6b7a4d6a453d0d0a&blogview=true&campaign=blog_playback_link" target="_blank"><img width="386" height="303" alt="Click to play this Smilebox scrapbook: June 2009 Camping trip" src="http://smilebox.com/snap/4d5441304d6a6b7a4d6a453d0d0a.jpg" style="border: medium none ;"/></a></td></tr><tr><td><a href="http://www.smilebox.com/?partner=google&campaign=blog_snapshot" target="_blank"><img width="386" height="46" alt="Create your own scrapbook - Powered by Smilebox" src="http://www.smilebox.com/globalImages/blogInstructions/blogLogoSmileboxSmall.gif" style="border: medium none ;"/></a></td></tr><tr><td align="center"><a href="http://www.smilebox.com/scrapbooks" target="_blank">Make a Smilebox scrapbook</a></td></tr></table>Hardin'shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17626076589622563854noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1852675179366640735.post-60105805818874688662009-06-08T20:13:00.000-07:002009-06-08T20:14:52.627-07:00Nathan's pictures June 2009. Just so it is common knowledge. Never take a prescription strength anti-inflammatory (or Ibuprofen) at the same time as Aleve. This is something I know from personal experience this weekend. Apparantly, Naproxen Sodium (a.k.a. Aleve) is also an anti-inflammatory. When the two are combined you could experience symptoms like: dizziness, dilated pupils, an inability to comprehend what people around you are talking about, and an extreme case of the giggles. Don't believe that I can be that idiotic? Just ask my friends!Hardin'shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17626076589622563854noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1852675179366640735.post-15236164420003583152009-04-06T19:53:00.001-07:002009-04-06T19:53:21.091-07:00Becca's pics<table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" border="0" bgcolor="#ffffff"><tr><td><a href="http://smilebox.com/play/4f4455324e6a63354e413d3d0d0a&blogview=true&campaign=blog_playback_link" target="_blank"><img width="386" height="303" alt="Click to play this Smilebox scrapbook: Becca 1 year old pictures" src="http://smilebox.com/snap/4f4455324e6a63354e413d3d0d0a.jpg" style="border: medium none ;"/></a></td></tr><tr><td><a href="http://www.smilebox.com/?partner=google&campaign=blog_snapshot" target="_blank"><img width="386" height="46" alt="Create your own scrapbook - Powered by Smilebox" src="http://www.smilebox.com/globalImages/blogInstructions/blogLogoSmileboxSmall.gif" style="border: medium none ;"/></a></td></tr><tr><td align="center"><a href="http://www.smilebox.com/scrapbooks" target="_blank">Make a Smilebox scrapbook</a></td></tr></table>Hardin'shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17626076589622563854noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1852675179366640735.post-75700248173836093952009-04-06T19:31:00.000-07:002009-04-06T19:34:35.044-07:00April showers!April is somehow a busy month. January through March ... we were still reeling from the Christmas holidays and kept marching through with party after party. Of our little family of 5, 4 of us have now celebrated our birthdays for the year. Nathan will have his own wonderful birthday celebration in June. We are starting swim lessons this month for the boys and now I can finally do some of the projects around the house I have not been able to get to. My project this week = painting the boys bedroom. Don will now start working on the yard so he will have his work cut out for him. I think I have been demoted to only working on the yard under his close supervision when, yesterday I pulled up his thriving parsley plant because I thought it was a week. Oh well. He still loves me anyway! Much love to you all ... whoever you are that reads this! All my children are napping at the same time!!! This hardly ever happens. And what am I doing? Playing on the computer instead of sleeping myself. Crazy! Anyway, this month has been great. Mom came for a visit over the weekend and it was so wonderful to see her. We are gearing up for a wonderful Thanksgiving and we have almost all of our presents purchased for Christmas this year. What a wonderful life!Hardin'shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17626076589622563854noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1852675179366640735.post-89799850571189585772008-10-23T16:08:00.000-07:002008-10-23T16:12:51.690-07:00Hello again! It has been so extremely long since we added another message on our site. We just got back a couple weeks ago from an extremely fun trip to Disneyland. The children were so well behaved and had so much fun the whole time. We spent one week at Disneyland and another week on the beach at Santa Barbara. I will add some of those cute pics on our site. Julie is now officially working part time and is loving being a nurse in the labor and delivery unit. Don is still working hard and working on his applications for medical school again. The boys are both starting preschool again this year and Shawn is getting so ready for Kindergarten as each month passes. He can write his name and he is starting to read small words by himself and write his own words. Nathan is just starting preschool and is learning how to write his name right now. This week we got Nathan on a big boy bike with training wheels. He did so well with riding his bike and was so proud of himself! Well, we are all keeping very busy trying to keep up with the busy life style we have created for ourselves. It is fun though everyday!Hardin'shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17626076589622563854noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1852675179366640735.post-23237310157622508912008-05-06T07:37:00.000-07:002008-05-06T07:57:25.486-07:00Chubby Bunny and KittyWe just came back from a fun weekend at some cabins in Bear, Idaho that belong to a friend of ours! We had fun hiking and hanging out with our friends. The children all had lots of fun with this trip. They played a lot with the small mounds of snow still left over from the winter. Our friends Monte & Misty (with their daughter Paige) and Jacob & Emily (with their two boys) came with us. On Saturday we played a fun game called Smear the Queer (I know, horrible name) in the deep mud pits around the camp site. Don opted out of the game because of his back. I have never played this game and it was so fun. We would throw the football to someone and whoever had the ball was to be chased and tackled by the others. I have never gotten so muddy in my entire life. We were covered head to toe. Every article of clothing was soaked. I definately would play this again! That night we also played a game of Chubby Bunny. Everyone would take turns and see how many marshmallows they could fit in their mouth and still be able to say "Chubby Bunny". I was reigning champion with 8 marshmallows. Don came a close second with 7 marshmallows. Nathan - who is always our boy who will store food in his cheeks with every meal like a chipmunk - managed to fit 2-3 large marshmallows at one time in his little mouth!<br />Nathan has a small stuffed animal kitty that he got years ago from Grandma Barzee. He accidentally left it at the cabins. Our friends brought it back and Nathan did not have his kitty all day Monday. He was so sweet about it. He talked about missing Kitty all day long and one point in the day he was distraught because Kitty was crying and he couldn't hold her. He was only consoled when he was told we could call Jen and make sure she was holding Kitty and helping her feel better. When I told my Mom about this she said that when I was a little girl they had to go out of their way to drive to a store in Twin Falls where I left my little doll. The things we parents do for our little children!<br />Shawn had fun in preschool this week. He learned how to make bread. He learned how to grind wheat and how to knead the bread. He thought the best part was when they got to eat their bread at the end. He is growing up to be such a sweet and smart boy. We are so very proud of him. He is a very helpful big brother. One day he put the pacifier in Becca's mouth and bounced her gently in her bouncer chair and helped her go to sleep. He was so proud of himself for being able to put his baby sister to sleep. I was very grateful!Hardin'shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17626076589622563854noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1852675179366640735.post-83341175241354945632008-04-26T15:17:00.000-07:002008-04-26T15:25:38.248-07:00What a life!<span style="font-family:verdana;">Life is going just great for us! Shawn & Nathan are so in love with little Rebecca. She is starting to smile and coo at us now and it is so fun. She is still small enough to carry around all the time and she just looks adorable in her little dresses. We are so blessed with our three little children! Shawn is almost done with his first year of preschool and he is starting to read small words by sounding them out very slowly. He can write his name and he is also starting to tell jokes. Although, the only person who really gets them is him. For instance last night he was cracking up telling Uncle Eric this joke:</span><br /><span style="font-family:Verdana;">"How does a monster eat his peas?"</span><br /><span style="font-family:Verdana;">"He throws them on the floor!"</span><br /><span style="font-family:Verdana;">(Insert a belly busting laugh from Shawn here)</span><br /><span style="font-family:Verdana;">Nathan is a little spitfire. He keeps all of us on our toes. He likes to pretend he is a lion, or a kitty. And the only way to get him to do anything is by pretending you are also a lion or a kitty and ask him to do something. He goes by "NaNa Lion" a lot these days! He is such a sweetheart.</span><br /><span style="font-family:Verdana;">When the boys went out to the store with Daddy the other day Shawn asked Daddy if he had any flowers. Daddy was going to buy some geraniums for the garden and had them in the cart. When Shawn found that they did indeed have flowers he said "Good, because Mommy will be mad if we come back and don't have any flowers." - Where do they come up with this stuff? Funny boys.</span><br /><span style="font-family:Verdana;">Life is good. </span>Hardin'shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17626076589622563854noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1852675179366640735.post-45863312874492360302008-02-29T15:24:00.000-08:002008-02-29T15:28:12.309-08:00A New AdditionWe have exciting news to share! Rebecca joined our family on February 24th. Weighing in at 8 pounds 6 ounces and 21 inches long you wouldn't think that she was as early as she is. She has her father wrapped around her perfect little pinky. We have had so much fun with her already! We must add pictures!Hardin'shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17626076589622563854noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1852675179366640735.post-73741735828759465552008-02-03T17:25:00.000-08:002008-02-03T17:26:59.519-08:00Our SpanglishWell, Don is doing a fine job teaching Shawn some new Spanish words. I think Shawn must think Daddy makes these things up. Last week, we were driving in the car and Shawn was talking about his gorilla, only he doesn't say "gorilla" he says "bagrilla". When I tried to correct him, Shawn said: "NO Mommy, that's how you say it in Spanish!" - Well you can't beat that! :)Hardin'shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17626076589622563854noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1852675179366640735.post-72324913989009391422008-02-03T17:19:00.000-08:002008-02-03T17:25:21.978-08:00Living with a Star Trooper and back painWell, Don's back is healing. He is off his pain medicine and now he is wearing a back brace that makes him look like one of the star troopers off Star Wars. It's big, it's bulky, and he hopes to be out of it by the time he goes to his next doctor's appointment next week. While Don was healing I thought it would be a good idea to shovel some snow in the front yard. (Apparently I didn't remember that I was 9 months pregnant. Hmmmm.) Well I didn't get very far when I doubled over in intense pain. One trip the the hospital later that evening showed I had a very bad bladder infection causing contractions and back pain. I was given some antibiotics and after a second trip to the hospital yesterday to stop more contractions I was reassured that everything looks fine. I'm not in actual labor - DANG IT! :) Oh well, my back is feeling a lot better this afternoon and I am reassured that I will get better soon.Hardin'shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17626076589622563854noreply@blogger.com0
